my 5 favourite women in history

5 women who have or had insane lives and made amazing contributions. All active for decades with reputations that span over that time (basically no one whose only been active for this millennia). Some of these women are sort of tragic, which i think just shows their strength, but I didn’t mention that in the descriptions because their contributions go beyond their trauma.

Everyone knows that Jackie Kennedy was an amazing women; she was just a good person. During her years in the White House she showed support for the Civil Rights Movement by making an inclusive Kindergarten where her children also went. She subtlety entered Politics by making a speech in Spanish to the Cuban fighters after Bay of Pigs. She also was on good terms with politicians internationally (which was probably important at this time in US history).
Yet when I googled her to get dates and evidence of her good deeds all anyone mentioned was her dress sense and the fact that she restored the White House, don’t get me wrong both they’re good things but her contributions were so much bigger than that and it sucks that they aren’t given as much attention.

In a man’s word and an industry that’s meant to be for women but has a heavy male influence Donatella is a major power that is consistently killing it. The circumstances that led her to be the designer for Versace suck, but she’s taken a great company and brand and kept it amazing. Especially when designers are always changing and the consistency of bands are fluctuating Versace stands strong.
When considering a good female icon Donatella is a perfect example and her legacy will never fade.

There’s no denying Diana’s effect on the world. She changed the image of a British Princess. Her compassion for others and her unwavering goodness is like the core aspect of her legacy. I think the fact that every person alive at the time can remember how they found out she died shows how loved she was. I’m sure you all know at least a few of the amazing things she did, but to me the respect she showed AIDs patients, at a time where the disease was so unknown and the smallest instances of contact were thought to led to transmissions, shows how incredible she was.
Also the monarchy 100% had her killed.

Her contributions to music are undeniable. Fleetwood Mac is a legendary band but this isn’t about them. Stevie alone is incredible. Her presence on the stage and on the planet as a force (that sounds so weird bu y’know) is insane.
She’s also a great icon for females doing it off they’re own back, she doesn’t need a man or children of her own, she’s self- described as the cool aunt. She”s basically remained the same person throughout her entire career, which is super rare.
Her philanthropic work is notable too, she sold her $3 mill’ house so she could downsize and give the money to her charity for wounded soldiers, just to name one example of her charity work.

My personal favourite monarch (I’m that much of a history buff, I have favourite monarchs). She came to the throne at a time where women were seen as below men and it wasn’t really contested. Her sister of course came before her, but her sister didn’t exactly have the best rep’ and wasn’t (and isn’t) as monumental as Elizabeth. She stayed single and unattached through her life, which I think acted as a big ‘fuck you’ to anyone who tried to control her or dictate what she did with her life. At a time where Britain was sorta rocky she stayed consistent for 44 years.
