some pieces i’m going to be on the hunt for this spring

I have been in a bit of a clothing rut recently. I hate a lot of the things I own and have been bringing some pretty full bags of clothes to work to donate. Nothing that I’ve worn for the last like 6 months but enough to make more than a few gaps in my wardrobe. It’s time to bring in some new I think. I’m very much trying to channel like late 90s romcom lead/ Audrey Horne type energy. There are a few people in my mind and I think these pieces reflect the kind of vibe I’m going for. Just a few things of ranging usefulness but all with high amounts of prettiness. I am trying so hard to not fast fashion and so these are more concepts than actual pieces. Cold turkey baby I’m not even looking on the sites right now (because I don’t have a good track record for doing wishlists without buying things on them).

It’s getting hard to think of people to do this post for. I like doing it for people with 4+ albums because then there’s like a lot to work with and it’s harder, but right now I do not listen to people with massive discographies much, and if I do I’m just learning their work. Halsey is someone I have supported from the start though and I actually had to check to make sure I hadn’t done this already because it felt like such a given. There 100% is going to be an album bias here like I have a type. And my opinions on this will probably be so different like 6 months from now. This has been the best month for music releases in a while if not ever. Seriously I have never felt so musically fed. The last 2 weeks of this month have been especially excellent and have truly dictated the rest of my 2023 musically. This is going to be such a long one. grey books i’ve read recently (colour coded reads)

This was a rough period y’all. I don’t know if grey books are just statistically boring or if I was just picking a lot of duds but I did not love these. I did it though and a lot of them were donated which is good for me getting my collection down. I will be only picking nooks like this until June though and then going back to regularly scheduled programming. This is a short one, only ten books because again I was not enjoying it greatly. i just want to talk about caroline polachek’s second album ‘desire, i want to turn into you’

We have been spoiled for albums recently. And by recently I mean literally just within the last week. Caroline Polachek’s Desire, I Want To Turn Into You is the third and last of this run, a sad but good thing as I means I can really sit with these albums now before the next one comes. My first draft of this intro was so whiny and this is not the place for that negativity. I was blessed enough to see this album performed (out of order) live for the first time a few days before release. So I knew we were going to get an A* project, and it’s just so good. Such a good time, so fun (perhaps my favourite of the three albums that came over this week, maybe I’m just saying that because it’s still release day for this one as I’m writing this, who knows?). I cannot wait to talk about these songs and I swear I will limit the amount I talk about the live show but holy cow is she good live. I have involuntarily left lesbian Tiktok (I’m quite sad about it) and am onto secondhand/sustainable fashion Tiktok, which sometimes is ugly charity shops hauls but for the most part fun styling videos and good vintage hauls. These gals all do things other than clothes but I am just talking about their fashion content here. A couple of the women I may have mentioned before but not in this context so we move.
