Is it just me or is there a bit of an album drought happening? Like there have been some great projects out this year but I thought there would be more. It has finally come, This Is Why is out and it’s fantastic. I wrote this on the day after release after sitting with it for a day so it’s not like true first impression but a lot of the lyrics I only got while doing this post. That may explain like half of what I say. I tried with this one to be more brainy. I used my degree for at least one of these songs which is fab. I did not realise that there were only 10 songs until it was out, that feels criminal after waiting so long but there is only one song under 2 minutes and a couple over 4 so I can’t complain (I prefer a few long songs to many short ones). I’m just so happy they’re back and that the music is this good. They’ve been my favourite band since I was like 10 and I think I like this album the most I wont lie. I was going to do a whole paragraph about how like nothing had come out the last 6 months but I think I was just experiencing temporary brain rot because it’s actually been a pretty good 6 months for music. I had a whole plan for this and I went through the releases for the first 6 months of the year and listed a load of them, and then new albums came and I switched those out for others. There was a lot of music I missed this year and next year I really want to make an effort to listen to new things and give my time to new music, and not just listen to the same 10 albums on repeat. I initially was going to make these two separate posts but I really liked the format of my last new albums post and I really don’t have much to say on moss so I am combining the two things. I do love Maya, I love this moment for her. Both Do Revenge (a new film on Netflix in which she is one of the two leads. It’s pretty good you should see it if you haven’t) and Moss are great and she should be so proud and happy with her work.
